FSAE experience

I joined UCLA FSAE right after transferring to UCLA. It is probably my most important and enriching experience. UCLA FSAE gave me a platform to apply what I have learned as well as an opportunity to learn so many new things about building a car from scratch.

I joined the powertrain/drivetrain subteam my first year where I helped in the manufacturing and assembly of our 2021 car, MK-7. This is the year I got into manual machining, water jetting, as well as learning about HAAS CNC machines. I was able to see and do to learn what went into design and how things got manufactured to meet that said design.

My second year with the club, I stuck with my PT/DT subteam and have been actively working on building MK-8. I worked on the jigs for the differential mounts which was combined with the engine mounting as well. I also took responsibility of designing and fabricating battery box for the car. This entailed designing the box in SolidWorks, making jigs and tabs for the box, and fabricating the box using SLS printing.

I helped to create drawing files of the differential mounts and the eccentrics which was sent to the CNC manufacturers. Proper GD&T was applied to the drawing which resulted in good tolerances compared to last year's mounts and eccentrics.

I actively participate in the club's activities. I help with troubleshooting any problems, doing differential and/or engine rebuilds, help other subteams.
